Missions and Evangelism: How We Carry the Gospel Across Kenya
Jesus gave His followers one clear assignment before He returned to heaven: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). That command still drives the heart of our church today. At Blessed International Fellowship, missions and evangelism are not side activities. They are central to who we are and why we exist.

From the dry plains of Samburu to the busy towns of Western Kenya, our missionaries have carried the Gospel into places where hope is often in short supply. In this article, we share why missions matter, what our journey has looked like, and how you can be part of it.
Why Missions and Evangelism Matter
The Gospel is good news, and good news is meant to be shared. Paul asked a simple but powerful question: “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14).
Many communities in Kenya still have limited access to sound Bible teaching. Some face poverty, drought or isolation. Others are surrounded by churches but have never experienced genuine discipleship. Missions and evangelism bridge that gap. They bring the message of Jesus to people where they are, and they show His love in practical ways.
Furthermore, missions strengthen the church that sends them. When members give, pray and go, their own faith grows deeper. A church that looks outward stays alive and full of purpose.
Our Journey in the Mission Field
For more than three decades, Bishop Gideon Mudenyo has carried God’s Word to communities across Kenya and East Africa. His ministry has included training leaders, planting churches and caring for orphans and the vulnerable. Under his leadership, our Missions Ministry has reached many regions.
Samburu, 2012
In 2012, Bishop Gideon travelled to the mission fields of Samburu County in northern Kenya. The region is vast, and many families live far from towns and services. Reaching them requires patience, long journeys and a deep respect for local culture. Yet the openness of the people to the Gospel made every mile worth it.
Webuye, 2022
Ten years later, in 2022, the Bishop ministered in the mission fields of Webuye in Bungoma County. This region holds special meaning, as it is close to where his early ministry years were spent. Returning there to preach and encourage local believers was a reminder that God’s work is a long-term investment.
Tongaren, 2025
Most recently, in 2025, our team reached young people in Tongaren, Western Kenya, through sports evangelism in collaboration with Pure University. Laurah and Phanice led the outreach, showing that missions can take creative forms. You can read more about that story in our article on sports evangelism.
What Our Missions Ministry Does
Our approach to missions and evangelism combines proclamation with compassion. Jesus preached the Kingdom, but He also healed the sick and fed the hungry. We follow His example.
- Crusades and open-air evangelism: We preach the Gospel publicly, pray for the sick and invite people to follow Jesus.
- Bible teaching and discipleship: We help new believers grow through sound teaching, so their faith takes root.
- Church planting: We support new congregations so that every community has a spiritual home.
- Caring for the vulnerable: We help orphans, widows and struggling families with practical support.
- Empowering women: We encourage women to grow in faith and leadership, strengthening families and communities.
- Creative outreach: We use sports, music and media to reach people, especially the youth.
Lessons We Have Learned From the Mission Field
Years of ministry have taught us valuable lessons. Here are a few that guide our work today.
Relationships Come Before Results
People open their hearts to those who show genuine care. Consequently, we invest time in listening, sharing meals and building trust. Lasting fruit grows from lasting relationships.
Prayer Goes First
Every mission begins on our knees. Our Intercessory Ministry covers each outreach in prayer before, during and after. As Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers” (Matthew 9:37–38).
Follow-Up Matters as Much as the Event
A crusade can draw large crowds. However, real transformation happens in the weeks and months that follow. That is why we connect new believers with local churches and mentors.
Every Gift Has a Place
Missions need preachers, but they also need drivers, cooks, musicians, photographers and prayer warriors. No one is too ordinary to serve.
How You Can Be Part of Missions and Evangelism
You do not have to travel to Samburu to make a difference. There are many ways to join God’s mission.
- Pray. Ask God to open doors and prepare hearts in the communities we serve.
- Give. Your offerings help cover transport, Bibles, food and support for vulnerable families.
- Go. Join one of our outreach teams when the next mission trip is announced.
- Share locally. Evangelism starts at home. Invite a neighbour, colleague or friend to church this Sunday.
- Serve with your skills. Whether you sing, teach, drive or take photos, your gift is needed.
The Great Commission Is for Everyone
It is easy to think missions are only for pastors or full-time missionaries. However, the Great Commission was given to every disciple. Jesus promised, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Your Jerusalem may be Eldoret. Your Judea may be Western Kenya. Your “ends of the earth” may be a place you have never imagined. Wherever God sends you, His power goes with you.
